This operation is intended for alternative fiber optic networks of rural departments abandoned by major operators.
The famous brand of old movie rental shops has been converted into high-speed Internet after its acquisition by Netgem. Operated under the name Vitis , a new prescriber on this market, Videofutur wants to find a place and will undoubtedly upset the paths of established telecom operators such as Orange, SFR, Free or Bouygues Telecom. Be aware, however, that this offer is for users attracted by the connected home or 4K TVs.

Box 4K: Videofutur enters the broadband market
The former DVD rental company has launched into fiber optics thanks to the subsidiary of the electronic company Netgem which owns 55% of the capital .Launched last November 6th, 2017, Videofutur announces the new 4K box , a very high definition film broadcasting standard that is intended for customers of rural departments "abandoned" by the four major operators. An offer of Internet accessincluding telephony and television is proposed at 39, 90 e per month . In addition, films from the firm Gaumont are offered to customers of the Box 4K , for example. Beyond, its power to watch movies in very high definition UHD 4K , with acompatible TV , 4K Videofutur box is based on a new design, a direct connection to the fiber optic network, a compact format and the access to an SVOD service (video on demand) with a catalog of 1500 films included in the subscription.
Broadband: areas shunned by operators
According to Vitis , this approach does not concern large cities, such as Paris, Bordeaux or Marseille, dominated by Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom or Free. Know that 45% of the population lives in these rural areas where operators are not yet there. Following the financial support of the French Government Broadband Plan, which aims atfull coverage of the territory by 2022 in very high speed networks, local authorities participate in the financing of networks and delegate construction to infrastructure operators , such as 'Axione, Covage, even Orange or SFR , who take care of digging trenches and laying down fiber, via public initiative networks (RIP).

“Vitis a un objectif de 30 ME de chiffre d'affaires en 2021
Boursier.com : Que représente le chiffre d'affaires de Vitis (ex VidéoFutur) dans l'activité totale de Netgem ?
M.H. : En 2018, l'activité de Vitis a représenté grosso modo un quart du chiffre d'affaires de Netgem. Vitis a été créé fin 2016 avec pour objectif d'être un opérateur fibre en France et notamment dans les zones rurales où les réseaux fibres optiques sont ouverts. Netgem détient aujourd'hui plus de 50% du capital de Vitis qui connait une forte croissance. Son chiffre d'affaires a atteint 5 ME dès 2017, puis un peu plus de 10 ME en 2018 et nous visons un chiffre d'affaires de 30 Millions d'Euros en 2021. L'important pour Netgem, c'est de constater que Vitis est positionné sur un marché en croissance avec un modèle économique qui part de la technologie du groupe, pour aboutir à un modèle de services, que ce soit pour opérateur, ou en BtoBtoC ou encore en BtoC.
Boursier.com : Quel est le nombre de clients de Vitis ?
M.H. : Vitis, opérateur en tant que tel, a atteint 35.000 clients aujourd'hui. Il y a une très forte attente dans les zones rurales, les gens ayant un très mauvais accès à Internet. La fibre change la vie ! L'objectif de 30 ME de chiffre d'affaires en 2021 correspondrait à une poursuite de la très forte croissance des abonnés, en direction des 100.000 abonnés. Notre ARPU est de l'ordre de 35 Euros...."
