ISP Origin Broadband Launch UK Pay TV Service
with Netgem TV

The set-top-boxes that Netgem TV provide – Netbox HD and Netbox 4K – tend to be similar to some of those supplied by rival video streaming companies like Roku (Now TV), including the usual array of premium content (sports), apps (Amazon Prime Video, hayu, Rakuten TV, YouTube etc.), live TV channels (Freeview) and catch-up content.Customers of UK ISP Origin Broadband are to be offered a new Pay TV service after IPTV supplier Netgem TV announced that it had just launched their “largest deployment deal to date” with the internet provider, which is being bundled alongside their broadband and phone packages with prices from £12.99 per month.
The TV company’s kit has already been adopted by a number of broadband ISPs (e.g. WightFibre, Gigaclear) and now the Doncaster-based provider Origin Broadband has joined their ranks. The agreement itself was first confirmed at the end of 2019 (here) but has now gone live.

"So far WightFibre’s FTTP rollout has already covered over 35,000 premises (up from 30,000 in Nov 2021) and their goal is to reach around 70,000 by the end of 2025, which is close to universal coverage of the island. We should point out that they previously ran a DOCSIS based Hybrid Fibre Coax (HFC) network, but this has been replaced by the grander ambitions of their full fibre build."

RépondreSupprimerRural focused UK ISP Gigaclear (with Netgem TV) has announced that their 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network will be extended to cover the small town of Shipston-on-Stour (population of 5,000) in Warwickshire, which comes just two days after rival network operator FullFibre Limited made a similar announcement (here).
The operator notes that their planned build in Shipston-on-Stour will cover a total of 2,727 premises (homes and businesses) and require over 19,000 metres of trenching to lay the fibre. The work is expected to be completed by Spring 2023, but they won’t be the only player in town.
