EE TV now available to order online with broadband deals

Consumers can now order EE TV services over the internet.

"UK consumers now have the chance to sign up for EE TV services online, over the internet.

Up until today (Tuesday January 20th), customers have been required to place their orders at EE's nationwide chain of retail stores.

But it is now possible to subscribe to EE TV with a home broadband package via the web, rather than in-person on the high street.

The service - which launched in October 2014 - allows users to stream content to three connected devices at a time, while also watching programmes on a television set.

EE TV is powered by a connected set-top box (Netgem N8500), which offers Freeview channels, catch-up content services, and a host of interactive apps. (...)"

Verdict

EE TV has some genuinely new features you won’t find anywhere else, and that helps it stand out from the crowd.

But there are some bugs to be ironed out: the interference we experienced with live TV is inexcusable; big-name services are conspicuous by their absence; and the new features turn out to be more limited than you first think.

The box is free if you have your mobile, broadband and landline with EE.

Our advice? If you already have these three, or will save money by doing so, then EE TV is a great extra. 

Otherwise, it’s a promising but less enticing prospect."

Netgem annonce son CA 2014

Pas de perspectives chiffrés pour les commandes de EE TV pour 2015, dans l'annonce des chiffres d’affaires Netgem de 2014 (la info plus attendue)!!!

EE gagne 1,7 millions de clients 4G aux 2 derniers mois de 2014 !!!

"EE ont annoncé qu'ils ont acquis 5,7 millions de clients 4G en 2014. Mince alors.

Certes l'Orange et T-Mobile fusion ajouté plus de ce chiffre avant le lancement du service de télévision EE et qui a aidé à traction encore 1,7 million d'abonnés 4G dans les deux derniers mois de l'année 2014. (...)"

(EE have announced that they’ve gained 5.7 million 4G customers in 2014. Blimey.

Admittedly the Orange and T-Mobile merger added most of that figure before the launch of the EE TV service, and that helped EE pull in a further 1.7 million 4G subscribers in the final two months of the year.)

1. Sur les 10 millions de clients qui ne consomment pas de la PayTV, la pénétration de EE sera de 20% max, soit 2 millions de box sur une période ... disons de 5 ans 

Sur les 15 millions ayant deja un abonement Pay TV, la pénétration sera de quelques %, en substitution de l'existant avec une offre moins riche et moins chère. Disons 5% sur 5 ans.

Ce qui nous ferait : 2 à 3 millions de box sur 5 ans, soit, 400 000 à 600 000 / an, soit 80 000 à 120 000 d'ici la fin de l'année (avec des rythmes de recrutement lineaire) (fkahn)

2. Si 80 000, vendus par 300 € chaqu'une boite, 
nous aurons un contribute pour le CA du 4iéme trimest 2014, 
de prés de 24 millions d'euros ?!

... et un contribute de plus de 96 millions d'euros pour le CA annuel 2015!?

3. Rappeler que EE a 580 magasins de détail, et sert plus de 30 millions de clients à travers son mobile, fixe et commerces de gros.**

Pour avoir 80 000 boites vendues par trimestre il faut vendre environ 137 boites par magasin en average, chaque trimestre (~36boites/mois).

Verdict

There’s undoubtedly room for improvement with EE TV. Its lack of some of the UK’s biggest streaming services is one (hopefully addressable) issue, and it would also have been great if EE could have rounded out its box’s otherwise impressive flexibility by adding multimedia playback support via either USB or your network - or both.

Still, it’s hard to be too churlish about a well thought-through box which brings genuine ambition and innovation to the table. ..."
