=>> Transitioning from the current Community Fibre TV offering (powered by Netgem) to the new PLEIO platform (also developed by Netgem) brings several key improvements focused on simplicity and next-generation streaming!
==> Key enhancements with PLEIO:
• Integrated Freely technology: The PLEIO platform incorporates Freely, allowing you to watch live television (channels such as BBC, ITV, Channel 4, etc.) directly via IP streaming—no rooftop aerial required.
• A unified "Watch, Stream, and Play" experience: PLEIO brings together live TV, catch-up services, streaming apps (Netflix, Prime Video, NOW, etc.), and cloud gaming all in one place.
• Cloud gaming included: The PLEIO service provides access to a catalog of cloud-based games (using a dedicated controller, with no need for downloads or heavy installations on the device itself).
• Simplified interface: Designed to eliminate the complexity of juggling multiple apps or switching between various sources, the interface aggregates recommendations based on the household's viewing habits.
• Updated hardware: The new device (PLEIO Puck) and its voice-enabled remote control replace the previous, traditional Netgem 4K set-top box, while maintaining full 4K and HDR compatibility.
Overall, the PLEIO Puck is the best choice for modern use; however, the older Netgem 4K box (available via Community Fibre) retains one specific technical advantage if you prefer a wired connection.
Here is how to choose the best device for your needs:
Why the PLEIO Puck is the clear winner: 🏆
• Modern ecosystem (Android TV 14): Unlike the older box, which used a closed system, the PLEIO Puck integrates with Google’s official app catalog. You get a much smoother, faster, and more future-proof interface.
• More storage space: With 32GB of memory (compared to less than 8GB on the older model), you can install plenty of apps without running out of space. • Great for gamers: It is the only device that includes a game controller and is optimized for cloud gaming.
• Completely discreet: Weighing just 40 grams and roughly the size of a coaster, it can be tucked away entirely behind your television.
The only scenario where the older Netgem 4K box remains the "better" choice: 🔌
• Wired internet connection: If your Wi-Fi signal is unstable where your TV is located, the older box features a physical Ethernet (RJ45) port for a wired connection. The PLEIO Puck, by contrast, operates exclusively via Wi-Fi.
In summary: If you have a reliable Wi-Fi connection in your living room, the PLEIO Puck is clearly superior in terms of performance, features, and long-term technological viability.

RépondreSupprimer=> PLEIO's business model
Pleio now operates television and entertainment services for more than 30 telecom operators, ranging from regional networks to national operators, under those operators' own brand or on a cobranded basis.
The services of all these operators differ in their user experience and their content offer but are all run on a shared software platform in the cloud. Setting up a new operator takes from a few days to a few weeks depending on that operator's requirements.
The revenue generated by Pleio consists of recurring and non-recurring revenue:
=> Recurring revenue
is the group's primary source of revenue. Netgem receives a fixed fee per operator for operating the service (management fees), together with a monthly fee per active subscriber (subscriber fees), paid for as long as the end customer remains subscribed to the operator's television service. To this is added usage revenue from the consumption of certain content supplied by Pleio, such as video on demand or advertising on FAST channels. The cloud gaming service is included in the subscription. Pleio is the only general-interest TV service to offer cloud gaming with no additional subscription.
=> Non-recurring revenue
remunerates the non-recurring services performed for telecom operators: integration, customisation, localisation and catalogue monetisation. To this are added the residual sales of set-top boxes, in continuous decline since the gradual exit from that activity began in 2021: recent deployments, and Vodafone TV in particular, involve no hardware delivery. For the consumer, Pleio appears as a single integrated application, on television and on mobile, through which they reach their whole offer — national TV, thematic channels, streaming platforms, films to rent and of course video games — without having to switch between applications. That integration allows Pleio to make recommendations that take the household's entire viewing into account. Netgem's unique integration model allows the operator to build particularly competitive offers without depriving the consumer of access to premium services.
