"Vivo Brazil wants to extend their IPTV coverage with a new wireless STB

The Brazilian telecommunications company Vivo (Teléfonica) announced during ABTA 2014 that they will start using a new wireless STB for their IPTV operation. Thus, the company will be able to expand their coverage, since this innovation will imply a reduction in the installation times and a simplification in the deployment of additional accesses within the homes, as well as a reduction in costs and an increase in the devices productivity.

Vivo was planning an expansion of their service towards areas outside of the State of Sao Paulo (where it currently operates), although the expansion is currently delayed. According to Dataxis, the IPTV operation of the company had 47,000 users by the end of the first quarter of the year.

Rafael Sgrott, the company’s Video Manager, commented, “This STB will bring great benefits for our customers. We will not only offer a clean installation with no need of cables, but we will also provide the flexibility for a customer to change the TV access with no need of calling a technician. The wireless STB used is Cisco, ISB 7105 series, with a high performance and it includes the latest integrated Wi-Fi technology."

"Telefonica / Vivo TV adoptera la nouvelle plate-forme Nagra

Le groupe Telefonica a annoncé qu'il adoptera la nouvelle plate-forme développée par la Nagra dans ses activités en Amérique latine .

Telefónica avec Nagra , qui est la société responsable pour le codage du support et de plusieurs autres canaux , a annoncé qu'il sera bientôt changer la plate-forme que vous utilisez actuellement et desservant de nombreux pays d'Amérique latine , l'Argentine , le Brésil , le Chili , la Colombie , le Pérou et le Venezuela , à la plate-forme la plus moderne développée par Nagra , la OpenTV5 .

Les services de télévision numérique par satellite ( DTH) , la télévision par câble et Over the Top ( vidéo à la demande ) Telefonica / Vivo à migrer tous plate-forme de OpenTV5 .
Nouvelle plate-forme de la Nagra est axé sur l'interactivité et permettra à Telefónica de fournir du contenu selon le goût des abonnés .

OpenTV 5 est une plate-forme qui tourne au-dessus de Linux et intègre des technologies Web telles que HTML5 .
Le firmware qui utilise la plate-forme , cependant, ===> est assez léger qui leur permettra d'adopter des décodeurs simples , connus sous le nom zapper , ce qui devrait encore abaisser le coût de fonctionnement de télévision par abonnement . <=== (possibiltés pour Netgem?!)

Malgré ne pas avoir été clair s'il y aura un changement dans le codage des paquets de télévision en direct et Telefonica en Amérique latine , il est fort probable que cela arrive bientôt , ce qui pourrait signifier la fin de la piraterie de l'abonnement de télévision par satellite en Amazonie  ."
