  2. Zen Internet

Zen Internet are one of the UK's smallest big ISPs. They have around 126,000 customers, as of June 2020. Some of these are used by business customers - and Zen also have their own small group of resellers.

That business may take away from the number of home users they can claim to have - but it also reflects Zen's not insignificant reputation as one of the best providers when it comes to quality of service and customer care.

They consistently score highly in independent surveys, and as a result they wield far more clout than we might otherwise expect. See our Zen broadband review for more information.

Like the Big Four, they are moving into the world of ultrafast broadband, with their fastest package promising significant speeds of 300Mbit/s. However, at the moment this is only available to 3% of UK households.

=> Their superfast broadband is more accessible, reaching 95% of UK households and giving speeds of
    66Mbit/s.

    Zen Internet “full fibre”:
»»» to reach 4.5 million premises by 2021!
»»» to reach 20 million premises by 2025-30!

"UK ISP Zen Internet has followed last week’s soft launch (here) by releasing their new line-up of Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband packages, which replaces the old 80Mbps, 160Mbps and 330Mbps tiers with a simplified but faster set of plans including 100Mbps, 500Mbps and 900Mbps+.

The new “full fibre” packages are all based off wholesale products from Openreach’s national network, which has so far made FTTP available to 2.75 million premises and this should reach 4.5 million by March 2021. After that the operator has an ambition to cover 20 million homes and businesses by the mid to late 2020s (2025-30)."

ISP Zen Internet Joins Cityfibre’s UK FTTP Broadband Network

"Cityfibre has today announced that popular UK broadband provider Zen Internet has just become the latest ISP to join their growing national Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network, complementing others like TalkTalk and Vodafone. Until now Zen has been focused on selling Openreach’s products to homes.

As most people know Cityfibre has a major £4bn investment programme (here and here), which currently aims to cover around 1 million premises by the end of 2021 with their gigabit-capable “full fibre” network and then => 8 million across 100+ cities and towns (c.30% of the UK) – the latter target is expected to be “substantially completed” by the end of 2025."

  10. What’s less good about Zen Internet?

=> Cheaper broadband is available. And with comparable speeds too.
==> No option to add pay-TV or a mobile contract, so you can’t make savings by taking them from a single provider
