Netia is embarking on a major ultrafast broadband upgrade in Poland.
  • Netia plans to makes 100Mbps+ ultrafast fixed broadband available to 2.55 million premises, from the current 792,000, by 2026.
  • Between the third quarter of 2016 and 2020 it will invest around PLN417 million ($104.6 million) in broadband upgrades.
  • Netia says that currently 16% of the 792,000 premises covered by 100Mbps+ broadband are paying subscribers. It plans to reach 26% penetration within the next 7-8 years.

NETIA today announced two new appointments that will enable the company to further develop its significant presence in the Middle East and Africa (MEA). Adel Hamla has been named the company's sales manager for the MEA region, a position in which he will supervise NETIA's MEA client portfolio and lead continued development and implementation of sales in this area. Abderrahmane Bessaih will oversee business development in MEA, a role in which he will leverage his extensive knowledge of the region and its business climate to guide NETIA's ongoing growth there. Netia: pay TV subscriber base constantly growing
8 January 2016  

Netia, a Polish telecommunications operator, in Q3 2015 reported a growth in terms of revenues and subscribers base. The number of its pay TV subscribers increased by 20% year-on-year to 161,000. Moreover, 42% of broadband customers in the Netia's own network were TV subscribers.

The operator in general increases the share of services in its own networks. At the end of September, 54% of Netia customers were served via its access networks compared to 50% in the same period last year. The number of broadband subscribers in Q3 2015 remained stable at the level of 768,600, whereas the total number of operator’s RGU amounted to 2.3m (1% up quarter-on-quarter).

Netia’s revenues after first nine months of the year amounted to PLN 1.169bn (€277m), which is 8% less than in the same period last year. However, in Q3 2015 the operator reported 5% growth due to consolidation of TK Telekom results - Netia officially took over the company in July 2015.  EBITDA amounted to PLN 123m (€29m).
