LONDON, Sept 3 (Reuters) - "Mobile operator VodafoneThree (VOD.L), opens new tab launched its own TV service in Britain on Thursday, filling a gap in its broadband offer to better compete with rivals Sky, Virgin Media and BT. It also launched a premium mobile offer with guaranteed faster speeds.
. Vodafone TV will include streaming apps Netflix and HBO Max, linear and on-demand content from broadcasters like the BBC and ITV, more than 300 games and thousands of apps, the company said.
. Vodafone's "SuperMobile" product offers up to four times faster speeds and a guaranteed minimum download speed of 15 Mbps when customers are in 5G+ coverage.
. It utilises a dedicated "FastTrack" in Vodafone's 5G+ network, which partitions or "slices" a chunk of the network and prioritises users' data traffic.
.It will be available to pay monthly customers for an extra £3 ($4.05) a month on top of its full-speed Xtra plans.
. It is also launching a tandem "SuperMobile" service for business, which it said was anchored by Britain's first national business-only mobile network slice.
. Rival EE, owned by BT (BT.L), opens new tab, launched its own "Fast Lane" product using a dedicated network slice last month.
. Vodafone pledged to invest £11 billion in its British network when it merged with Hutchison's Three in 2025.
. Vodafone CEO Max Taylor said: "Vodafone SuperMobile is tangible evidence of what the Vodafone and Three merger makes possible: better connectivity and real choice for customers."

Alternative broadband provider Wildanet, which is deploying a new 2Gbps speed full fibre (FTTP) network across rural parts of Cornwall and Devon (England), today claims to have become the UK’s first internet provider to launch a “Powered by TiVo” broadband TV service that brings live TV, catch-up and streaming services together in one place, using a single box and remote with voice search.
The announcement comes not long after we reported on how a number of UK internet service providers were looking to bundle British device manufacturer Manhattan’s Freely-supporting Aero 4K TV Streaming Box, or similar kit using the TiVo OS, alongside some of their packages."

"You can upgrade your home entertainment for just a tenner a month. EE has refreshed its TV offering with a new bundle that combines Netflix and NOW Entertainment for £10 a month, down from £17.
You’ll get Netflix Standard with Ads, which gives you access to Netflix’s films and shows with adverts, plus NOW Entertainment, which includes Sky Originals, US series and HBO Max shows.
The new package is designed to give you more choice over what you watch without having to pay for the two services separately, and it could save you cash in the long run.
For instance, Netflix Standard with Ads now costs £7.99 per month on its own thanks to the recent price hike in the UK. And NOW Entertainment also starts at £7.99 per month — bringing the minimum total to £15.98 per month. This means if you were to take advantage of EE's promotion, you could save over £70 annually.
However, the lower price point comes with a catch:
For instance, you'll lose the ability to record on the supplied box. This means you won't be able to easily catch up on live shows you missed.
You'll also already need an EE broadband connection. If you're not already an EE customer, they're offering full-fibre 150 for £25.99 per month — their lowest ever deal.
And the £10 promotional price will increase after its 24-month contract.

RépondreSupprimerCe projet avait été évoqué pour la première fois hier, lors du lancement préliminaire de sa nouvelle offre haut débit à 8 Gbit/s, laquelle s'appuie sur son réseau « full fibre » (FTTP) existant, compatible avec la technologie XGS-PON (capable d'atteindre 10 Gbit/s).
« Cette capacité supplémentaire permet à plusieurs clients d'une même zone de bénéficier simultanément d'un accès haut débit multi-gigabit, tout en réduisant le risque de ralentissement aux heures de pointe », a déclaré un porte-parole de Vodafone. Toutefois, l'opérateur souligne que la « demande initiale » pour une telle connectivité « proviendra probablement de regroupements d'entreprises clientes, situées par exemple dans des parcs d'activités, ainsi que de liaisons de collecte mobile reliant les antennes au réseau cœur dans les zones urbaines denses », plutôt que des foyers.
