Bring or not bring to OPRA Netgem?

(24 october 2017)

"Oddo BHF publishes this Tuesday a study in which revaluates Netgem from 2.60 to 2.90 euros!

This analysis leads Oddo BHF to advise its clients not to bring Netgem shares to OPRA, which closes on 27 October!

Oddo BHF believes that the value of the OPRA (2.50 Eur) does not fully reflect the prospects for the group with the ongoing transformation of the business model!..."

Netgem at the OPRA closes on October 27, 2017.

Netgem maintains in 2017 the economic performance of 2016.
Major growth expected for 2018!

For the quarter ended September 30, 2017, Netgem announces consolidated revenues of € 12.4 million and gross margin of € 5.1 million, bringing consolidated sales and gross margin first nine months of 2017 at 45.3 million euros and 17.8 million euros respectively (unaudited data).

Revenues and gross margin in Europe and Asia are in line with 2016, with lower consolidated sales and gross margin primarily related to the licensing agreement with ZTE and Totalplay in Mexico, transforming hardware sales in software licenses.

To note:

"From ZQ 2017, ZTE delivers Total TV Set TV Set Top Boxes on Netgem's software platform Netgem continues to maintain and deliver its software platform directly to TotalPlay, both on the basis of existing subscribers and all new decoders that will be delivered by ZTE to TotalPlay.

Netgem will receive from ZTE a single fee for each new equipment delivered and will receive from TotalPlay a recurring software maintenance revenue based on the number of installed equipment, including the new decoders delivered by ZTE. "

"The transition to a software model in Mexico will have no impact on the operating result of 2017, which should be in line with that of 2016."

The active subscriber base grew by 24% compared to September 30, 2016, reaching 1.9 million daily users at the end of September 2017.

Netgem maintien en 2017 la performance économique de 2016. Major croissance attendue pour 2018!

(13 Octobre 2017)

Binge TV service in Estonia (Russia can follow similar TV model ?!)

(AUGUST 1, 2017)

Elisa, Starman launch smart TV service in Estonia -
Binge TV

Elisa and Estonia’s Starman have unveiled their first joint service.
Known as Binge, it is aimed at an estimated 200,000 households in Estonia who live outside cities and want the same smart TV viewing experience as cable TV customers.

Elisa's new Binge TV service will use Netgem's virtual set-top box features, providing a user interface bringing together local and international linear channels, seven-day catch-up and OTT services.
Binge TV also incorporates a network PVR (nPVR) for access to on-demand programming on several screens inside and outside the home, with a recommendation engine. The Netgem product integrates the Binge TV mobile app, which provides direct access to live and catch-up services.

Einari Kanerva, Head of Binge Business at Elisa, said as it expands into new countries, it wants to provide viewers with the best TV service possible, and a flexible way to expand it, once launched. By deploying Binge TV, Elisa can reach a growing population who want to watch TV footage wherever they are, and Netgem’s platform gives it "unique" flexibility to add more content and features over time.

 ***
Following on from the announcement of its first customers in the Middle East and Germany, Estonia is the third new television market Netgem is entering in 2017. Visit Netgem at IBC 2017, Stand 5.C70 at the RAI in Amsterdam 15-19 September to find out more about the deployment.

Commenting on the announcement,Sylvain Thevenot, MD at Netgem, added: “Consumer behaviour is changing, and operators need rapidly deployable and dynamic solutions that will enable them to maintain a competitive edge. This deployment of Binge TV using Netgem’s Diamond entertainment software suite enables Elisa to reach new audience segments as it extends into a new market, offering a full suite of live, on demand and quality OTT content based on an award-winning cloud-based platform from day one.”

Netgem "Diamond platform" Strategy - cloud with Microsoft Azure ! (Results: first half of 2017)

(H1 2017 Results - 27, July 2017)
Netgem accelerates its development in the cloud and
proposes a public share buyback offer of €25 million

Strategy and Outlook

The activity throughout the year should confirm the trends observed in the first half, with the confirmation of the strong performance in Europe, a return to normal in Asia and the first deliveries under license in Mexico, allowing the company to have a good visibility on its business to the end of the year. The
company will confirm in 2017 its return to profits initiated in 2015.

At IBC in September, the Company will present a new partnership program around Diamond, its virtual set-top box platform. The main objective of this program is to enable the company to strengthen its indirect sales presence among operators aiming to move their historic IPTV offer to the cloud.

The transition to the Microsoft Azure cloud, underlying the Diamond platform, improves the mutualisation of the innovation effort between customers. As a consequence, the company is able to continue expanding the scope of services offered on its platform - TV, video, music, connected home - without a significant increase in R&D effort.

Activity, results and financial position -  first half of 2017:

The first half of 2017 was characterized by a very good performance with our European customers, all of
which are continuing to recruit new subscribers to their entertainment offerings built on Netgem’s platform.
The product offering for European customers continues to strengthen thanks to the increasing penetration
of the virtual set-top-box platform (Diamond) and the first positive feedback for the Soundbox solution.
Soundbox combines the Diamond virtual set-top-box software with an enhanced version of a soundbar
designed with specialist audio partners. This unique system combines audio and video services within a
single application and a single device for all screens and rooms in a home. Netgem's Telco customers
see it as a way to differentiate their offers, increase their income and reduce their capex since the system
no longer requires set-top boxes. The consumer gains an innovative solution offering maximum simplicity,
limiting the number of devices, applications and remote controls necessary to implement a complete
digital entertainment system.
Netgem also announced two new market gains in the Middle East European region during the past six
months, in particular the opening of the German market where Netgem intends to strengthen its position
in the months and years ahead.
This performance in Europe has offset a temporary slowdown in Asia and the impact of the transition to
software licenses in Mexico.

For the six months ended June 30, 2017, Netgem announces a consolidated revenue of € 32.9 million
and a gross profit of € 12.7 million. Revenue and gross profit for the period were impacted by the strategic
agreement for software license signed with ZTE and Totalplay in Mexico.
The participation in Vitis (service provider of La Fibre VideoFutur) is not included anymore in the
consolidation perimeter for 2017, contrary to 2016. If Vitis had not been consolidated in 2016, the turnover
and the gross profit for H1 2016 would have amounted to respectively € 36.7 million and € 14.0 million .

Operating income in the first half of the year reached € 3.1 million, confirming the solid return to
profitability observed in 2016.
After taking account of an income tax charge of € 0.9 million, and the share of losses under the equity
method of € 0.8 million for Vitis, the Group recorded a net profit of € 1.3 million for the period.
The sales momentum in our Vitis participation is materializing. The triple-play "La Fibre Videofutur"
service is now available on an addressable park of 318,000 fiber plugs, expected to increase by 180,000
additional plugs in the second half of the year. The capital contributions of Caisse des Dépôts and
Océinde took place as planned during the semester to finance marketing investments.

The Group's net cash position reached € 30.1 million, down € 2.7 million in the first half. The Group held
7.9% of its capital in treasury at end of June 2017.

Inovative Cloud Based TV Service, on OTT TV China?! (Netgem Cloud delivers Telco grade TV service for subscribers, telecom industry, TV as a service with low cost for Telcos and OTT operators)

OTT and the changing eco-system in China's telecom industry

With Google now paying Orange, the French telecom operator, for its mobile traffic, the competition between teleco providers and over-the-top (OTT) players (internet companies who provide services based on the data transportation through the pipe of telecom operators) has become more intense than ever.

A number of global telecos have refused to provide free data transportation services for OTT providers. Moreover, in China’s telecom market, MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators) will soon become a potential competitor to telecom operators. With the rapidly-changing eco-system in the telecom industry, how would telecom operators react to the competition of OTTs and MVNOs? Deloitte China's TMT Center of Excellence investigates the business environment for the operators and analyzes the possible landscape of the telecom industry in China.
